Survival Guide ch. 7

In chapter 7 of  A Survival Guide to Social Media and Web 2.0 Optimization by Deltina Hay, the main topics were social bookmarking and crowd-sourcing.

Social bookmarking is a way for people to save their favorite websites to a single website and then be able to access their favorite bookmarks when they are away from home. Here is a link to a blog post I wrote about a social bookmarking website called Delicious.

Crowd-sourcing sites are a unique but useful way to gather information on websites. This allows users to determine the popularity and or usefulness of sites and share that information with others. One of the most famous sites that is know for this is StumbleUpon.

These two topics are similar in that they are user-driven. However they differ in the respect that bookmarks are opinions and preferences, where crowd sourcing is based more on information and facts.
